Viewpark Conservation Group has been succesful in acquiring the Douglas Support Estate as a community asset for the people of Viewpark. A further announcement will be made on Sunday 12th July 2020.
Viewpark Conservation Group has been succesful in raisng around £520,000 towards the purchase and Year One running costs of the Douglas Support Estate. Plans are now being prepared for the appointent of staff and early stage estate management.

The Board of the Viewpark Conservation Group has been informed that the Group is to receive a grant of £435,800 ending fears over the future of ‘The Glen’ and allowing for the Historic Douglas Support Estate to be preserved and upgraded as a natural resource for local people and wildlife.
The Group now has 85% of the purchase price, so still has to raise additional funds to enable to acquisition to proceed.

The Board of the Viewpark Conservation Group has submitted a formal application to the Scottish Land Fund to enable the community to buy the Viewpark Glen. This is the part of the Douglas Support Estate that lies between the M8 to the north and the North Calder Water to the south. Viewpark Conservation Group are also planning to acquire Mid Shawhead Farm as a base.
